Color Selection

When selecting a lime wash paint color it is recommended to consider the amount of "bloom" that will naturally occur as the Interno / interior Lime Wash dries.  The result is the selected color and all of it's lighter values.  For this reason, very dark and very bright colors are not achievable.   For instance, if a darker black was selected the lime wash would come become grey, a red would become pink.   

Alternative Products:

If a very dark color is what you're after,  please consider our premium  Stone Paint Fine or Stone Paint Coarse.  Both are beautifully textured finishes that contain a marble dust that will playfully bounce light around your space.  Another alternative is our Lime Fresco Venetian Plaster.  A beautiful trowel applied finish that will elevate any space.  Our Fresco Plaster will bloom less that our Lime Wash and therefore darker and deeper colors are achievable. 

Exterior Lime Wash Paint

Our Exterior Lime Wash Wall Paint is a unique lime-based coating blended with natural pigments which is designed to create a soft weathered patina reminiscent of the wonderful finishes on the building of Tuscany, Portofino and other regions throughout the Mediterranean. Sydney Harbour’s Original Lime Wash uses slaked and aged lime to create an ageless beauty that enhances existing buildings and allows new buildings to immediately take on an established air and blend with their surroundings. Once the carbonation process starts, the lime “blooms” to create natural variations in color, very often with slight streaking. During the lifespan of the product color variations will continue and the streaking may appear more prominent around moldings, window/door trim and other architectural elements.

Exterior Lime Wash Applications

Sydney Harbour’s Original Lime Wash wall paint is based on a very traditional recipe, so modern painting methods and expectations that this product performs like modern day technology must be put aside.  

Can be applied to cement render, bagged brickwork, concrete, masonry blocks, bricks, mud brick, sandstone, off form concrete, tilt up concrete panels and most absorbent building stones. All surfaces should be of sound condition.

Interno Lime Wash Paint

Sydney Harbour’s Interno Lime Wash wall paint is a unique lime based coating which is designed for interior use, and replicates the soft weathered patina of a traditional lime wash. Its unique formulation allows the lime to gently ‘bloom” through the paint, creating depth and texture without the necessity of exposure to the elements. Interno’s distinctive character and natural appearance lends itself easily to any decorating style. This is a genuine lime wash that gives a naturally soft look, not the contrived look delivered by the many copy-cat products currently on the market.  

Interno Lime Wash Suggested Applications

Can be applied to most suitably prepared plasterboard, plaster, masonry and previously painted surfaces. Not recommended for bathrooms, wet areas or kitchens.  For previously painted surfaces consider Base Coat Primer.
